Fall fashion show for kids in Highland Park

One of the children in Saturday’s free fashion show is an American Girl® doll model, and another was flown in from New York especially for the show at Sprout Kids, an upscale childrenswear store in downtown Highland Park.

The business at 644 Central Avenue will host its Fall 2015 ‘Trends of the Season’ show from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A lot of fun is planned with “Minion Mania” as the theme of the August 22 event.

The fashion show will feature 20 local, two to eight year old boys and girls, walking the runway dressed in the latest back-to-school fashions. “We have had some fabulous fashion forward kids walk our runway over the years,” says Pamela Hillman, owner of Sprout Kids.

Textures and fun fall colors are really big this year, along with coats and outerwear, warm fun patterns, leopard prints and rosettes. “We’re seeing a lot of plaid, floral leggings, pretty muted pinks, purples, creams and blue for girls. For boys it’s got to be comfortable, classic yet stylish. We’re seeing a lot of navy, hunter green and, of course, plaid,” says Hillman.
