Camera-Talk in Highland Park
If you have ever wanted to spruce up your photo taking techniques, or learn what all those dials and controls are on your camera, you may want to sit down with a pro this weekend who can teach you.
Professional photographer Jeff Cohen will hold a three-hour workshop at his Ravinia District studio Saturday, August 29 from 9 a.m. to noon. The Camera-Talk class is for those 18 and above.
Cost is $100 in advance, or $120 at the door. Coffee, juice and bagels will be served. Class size is limited.
Helpful tips and instruction is planned including discussion of settings: shutter speed, aperture and more. Understanding f/stops for more control, composition, how to take better family photos and how to photograph energetic children and pets are among topics to be covered.
Lessons will be followed by a Q&A and an entertaining presentation of Cohen’s four decade-career in magazine publishing and photography which includes his longtime work with Playboy Magazine. He will tell tales of hobnobbing with Hugh Hefner and the Playmates.
Tom Cruise, Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, Clint Eastwood, and Cindy Crawford are among the list of celebrities he has worked with, as well as legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz.
Cohen taught nine years in the journalism department at Columbia College in Chicago.
This will be the second popular Camera-Talk workshop held by Cohen. His first was in April.
