Advanced Beginner Spanish

Beginning Knitting

Thursdays, October 1 – 29

Learn to knit: a hands-on workshop for ages 16 and older, who want to learn to knit or need a refresher course.  Find out about why and what we knit, learn how to start, make a knitted fabric, and end a basic knitted piece using straight needles and plain yarn. See how learning to make your basic piece can lead to bigger and more interesting beginner projects.

Supplies needed are as follows:

  • 1 pair of straight knitting needles, 9″ length, size 8 or 9 US
  • 50 gms or more of a plain, light colored, worsted weight yarn
  • Pencil & paper
  • Eyeglasses, please, if you usually wear them for reading

Beginning Yiddish

Mondays, September 21 – October 26

In this class we will learn the basic Yiddish alphabet and basic Yiddish conversation and grammar.   We will start out with Yiddish in transliteration, that is Yiddish written in English letters, until we have mastered the 22 letters of the Yiddish alphabet and concentrate on speaking.

We will begin with a brief discussion of where Yiddish came from and go on to easy conversational phrases, songs and proverbs.
