19th Judicial Circuit to Host National Adoption Awareness Month Event Friday

More than 1,800 children in Illinois found forever homes last year. However, almost 1,500 children in Illinois and over 100,000 children nationwide are in foster care awaiting permanent loving homes. In recognition of Adoption Awareness Month, the 19th Judicial Circuit is partnering with several local organizations to increase awareness about adoption.  This year, adoption advocacy groups are focused on the adoption of older youth currently in foster care. Each year, more than 22,000 children nationwide reach the age of 18 without finding forever families.

What: National Adoption Awareness Month Event

Speakers Include  John Phillips, chief judge of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit; Valerie Boettle Ceckowski, judge of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit; Nick Sauer, Lake County Board, District 17; Charles “Chuck” Bartels, Lake County Board, District 10; and  Jane Waller, retired judge of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit.

The event will take place in the courthouse lobby. Lake County Court and Administrative Complex is at 18 N. Country Street.
