Art lovers and Christmas shoppers supported local stores Dec. 19, experiencing the festivities of the annual Holiday Wauk in downtown Waukegan.
Dandelion Gallery, Urban Edge, Sidecar Studios and others participated, offering up some unique works of art for viewing and for last minute gift-buying.
Karcher 405 Gallery was open too, and featured a special second showing of Lost Waukegan for those who missed it last month. Historic F. Sauter building artifacts including signs, old cancelled checks from the building’s once prosperous Stern’s clothing store, and a magnificent copper turret cap which once topped the red brick structure were on loan from the Waukegan History Museum.
On display were works of art and photographs depicting and about the lost landmark by local artists including Jon Revelle of JonRev Projects, Cesar Rea, William Coleman, and Myrna (nee Vandergrift) Magliulo.
In the back room of Karcher, other artists showcased and sold their wares, while hot chocolate with candy canes, and hot apple cider warmed the souls.
