The Lake County Sheriff’s Gang Task Force concluded a long-term operation, which resulted in the arrest of Jonathan Nieto, 33 of Waukegan.
Nieto is currently being held in the Lake County Jail on $750,000 bail. He is due in court on May 31.
During the operation, Nieto agreed to sell an undercover Lake County Sheriff’s Office Gang Task Force detective one kilogram of cocaine for more than $30,000. Nieto was taken into custody without incident, at a location in Waukegan, after he arrived with the cocaine.
According to the LCSO, a search of Nieto’s residence revealed more than 100 ounces of additional cocaine, a loaded semi-automatic pistol, and more than $1,900 in cash.
Nieto was subsequently charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (Class X Felonies), two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (class 1 felonies), unlawful use of a weapon (class 4 felony), and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia (class A misdemeanor).
Nieto is being held in the Lake County Jail on $750,000 bail. He is due in court on May 31 at 9 a.m. in courtroom C-120.

Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Fox Lake Police Department, Grayslake Police Department, Lake County Forest Preserve, Police Lake County State’s Attorney Office, Lake Villa Police Department, North Chicago Police Department, Park City Police Department, Round Lake Park Police Department, and Wauconda Police Department
