Beer Fest: Wisconsin vs. Illinois June 25 in Kenosha

Fun Run 5k at 1 p.m.  Border War Beer Fest 3 – 6:30 p.m.

A new event is on tap for June 25 on Kenosha’s beautiful lakeshore: Border War Beer Fest. This is a celebration of the best craft brews hailing from Wisconsin and Illinois – and also serves as a friendly competition between the neighboring states.

Attendees will vote for who takes home the “Willy” – a traveling trophy awarded to the state with the best brews. The event takes place at Celebration Place in HarborPark, 5501 Ring Road, from 3 to 6:30 p.m.

The event features unlimited 3 oz. craft beer samples from more than two-dozen Wisconsin and Illinois brewers; homebrews; state themed food such as pizza and Chicago-style hotdogs, and Wisconsin cheese curds and sausage; live music; and beer-centric games and activities. This is a 21-and-over event. A Border War Fun Run 5k – for all ages – will take place at 1 p.m., prior to the fest.

Tickets are on sale now and range from $45 general admission to $79 VIP. There are also designated driver tickets with prices from $15 to $25. Hotel packages are available for a limited time. The festival grounds are located less than one mile from Kenosha’s METRA train station.

With so many fun things to do in Kenosha, visitors may want to make it a day and evening at the lakefront. Visit Kenosha HarborMarket from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.; explore the Kenosha Public Museum or Civil War Museum, both are open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; stroll through the Kenosha Sculpture Walk; and climb the Southport Lighthouse from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
