Four charged after LCSO conducts Alcohol Compliance Checks

In June the Lake County Sheriff’s Office concluded the second yearly round of alcohol compliance checks, and four of the 60 establishments tested, failed by selling liquor to someone under the age of 21.

Of the four establishments in violation, two of them failed to check identification and the other two checked identification, but sold the alcohol to the underage person regardless.

“There is the potential for so much tragedy to occur when someone underage purchases alcohol.  This is one of the many reasons we conduct random alcohol compliance checks,” stated Sheriff Mark Curran.

Undersheriff Ray Rose added that the LCSO expects establishments selling alcohol to take their responsibilities seriously.  “It’s absolutely imperative the buyer’s age is verified before dispensing alcohol,” said Rose.

Sheriff Curran reminds the public that the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
