Teens Playing Pokémon Go Robbed at Gunpoint in Lake Villa area

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Morton Drive and Carol Lane in Unincorporated Lake Villa Thursday, July 14 shortly after 10 p.m. for the report of an armed robbery.

The brothers told deputies they had been playing the Pokémon Go game, when they came upon a parked vehicle described as a dark colored, older model, four-door.

Deputies at the scene found two teenage brothers who were robbed of their cell phones.

The brothers told deputies they had been playing the Pokémon Go game, when they came upon a parked vehicle described as a dark colored, older model, four-door. Two subjects exited the vehicle and approached the teens.  Both subjects were described as being in their early 20’s.  The teens said one was a white male with ‘spikey’ hair, and the other a black male with dreadlocks, who was not wearing a shirt.

Authorities were told by the teens that the black man displayed a firearm. Each of the suspected men took the cell phones away from the teens, they said. The subjects then reportedly fled in their vehicle.

Neither teen was hurt during the robbery.
