Motorcycle vs. Truck in Fatal Libertyville area Crash Friday

A man driving a motorcycle was hit and killed by a truck in unincorporated Libertyville late Friday morning.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reports that on August 12  at approximately 11:18 a.m. deputies were dispatched to the scene of a traffic crash with injuries at Milwaukee Avenue and Casey Road, in unincorporated Libertyville.  When sheriff’s deputies arrived they found the driver of a motorcycle lying on the ground with critical injuries.

According to deputies, the 57 year old motorcyclist was operating a 2016 Indian motorcycle, heading northbound on Milwaukee Avenue.  The driver of the motorcycle attempted to make a left turn onto Casey Road, when he was struck by a southbound 2014 Hino box truck, driven by a 46 year old man.  The motorcyclist who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle.  He was transported to Condell Hospital via ambulance where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the box truck was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the LCSO Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
