Go Gurnee and start walking Oct. 13!

Answering the call by U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murphy’s for people to exercise more, the Gurnee Park District is urging people to take a walk for their health.

The district has set aside Oct. 13-26 as the “Go Gurnee” event. So strap on your walking shoes and get going!

Pointing out that the surgeon general has been challenging communities across the country “to get up and get moving,” the park district sad it is taking that challenge to the next level by asking everyone ”to step it up and take many steps as possible.”

“Our goal is to encourage the entire Gurnee community to walk as many steps as possible,” said district spokeswoman Jennifer Gilbert.

“Walking has major benefits for your health, and as a district, we want to be the forerunners in promoting this accessible, affordable and fun exercise,” she added.
