HOMETOWN HERO: Army Staff Sgt. Veronica Brown

The Round Lake Area Exchange Club and sponsor Consumers Credit Union are proud to announce the October Hometown Hero – U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Veronica Brown of Round Lake Beach. Her colleague, Jacob Schmitt, of Round Lake Beach, registered her for the honor.

Brown is a graduate of Peoria Manuel High School. She currently serves as an Army recruiter in Round Lake Beach. Her accomplishments to date include three Army commendation medals, an Army Achievement medal, an Afghanistan Campaign medal, and a Combat Medal badge.

During her tenure, Brown has been stationed at Ft. Hood, TX; Ft. Sill, OK; and Ft. Bliss, TX. She also completed a tour in Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan.

With the generous support of this month’s sponsor Brown’s “Hanging with the Heroes” care package will include a gift card to Olive Garden; a personalized “Hanging with the Heroes” t-shirt donated by Artrageous of Hainesville; and letters from Round Lake Area Schools students.

The club meets each second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the RLAS-116 Administrative Service Center, 884 W Nippersink Rd. in Round Lake.
