Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrested an unincorporated Lake Villa man Saturday night after responding to a call about an apparent burglary at a home there.
At approximately 10:15 p.m. Oct. 29, deputies responded to a call in the 25600 block of West Marshfield Road in unincorporated Lake Villa for a burglary in progress. The victim, who was returning home, witnessed two subjects in the area who were in possession of her bicycle and two of her scooters. The items had been reportedly taken from a shed on her property.
Deputies quickly located one of the subjects who was in possession of a stolen scooter. He is identified as, Daniel Morales, 29, of the 37000 block of North Piper Lane. According to deputies, Morales was initially untruthful about the name he gave them.
He was arrested and subsequently charged with burglary (class 2 felony), theft (class A misdemeanor), and obstructing identification (class A misdemeanor). Morales is being held in the Lake County Jail on $50,000 bail. His next court date is November 1.
A second subject had fled before the arrival of sheriff’s deputies, however, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
Sheriff Curran reminds the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
