Restaurant Employee Robbed at Gunpoint in Waukegan Parking Lot, Suspect at Large

Suspect Displayed a Black Handgun outside Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant

Waukegan Police said a woman who was in a parking lot in the 1800 block of Washington Street Friday night was the victim of an armed robbery. The suspect is being sought.

Reportedly, the incident involved an employee of Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant who was robbed outside the business at 1802 Washington Street.

Law enforcement arrived at the scene at approximately 9:20 p.m. Dec. 16, shortly after the robbery occurred.

The woman, whose name was not released, told police she was approached by a black male suspect with a thin build and wearing a black ski mask and black jacket. The man also displayed a black handgun, she said.

Police are urging anyone with information about the armed robbery to call the Waukegan Police Department’s Tip-Line at 847-360-9001.

Police said the suspect was last seen fleeing the area through an alley. He was heading north bound on foot.

Cmdr. Joe Florip of the Waukegan Police Department said the amount and type of property taken has not yet been disclosed, pending the ongoing investigation.

Videos and photos of the area during the time of the incident were also not released.
