Gunman Fires Shot at Clerk in Tobacco Store Robbery

Tobacco Outlet, 41474 North Route 41 in Wadsworth, was robbed at gunpoint on Thursday night, Jan. 5, when the robber entered the store and demanded money from the clerk.

The gunman fired a shot from his handgun at the clerk but missed before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money, stated Det. Christopher Covelli of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in a written statement.

The offender was described as wearing a mask, black hat, dark-colored jacket, jeans, black shoes and gloves. The clerk called 911 after the robbery at about 7 p.m. He told deputies that he was ordered by the robber to lay on the floor before he fired a shot at him.
