A 21-year-old Ingleside man was arrested early Wednesday, Jan.18, for residential burglary after Dax, the Lake County Sheriff’s police dog, found him in the woods in North Barrington.
Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at about 1 a.m. to a rollover accident off North Route 59 at Miller Road in the suburb. They found the driver had fled the scene. A 911 caller told the sheriff’s office about a suspicious person wandering in the woods near the 200 block of North Route 59.
Soon Dax went looking for him and began barking when he found him. The suspect, later identified as Ryan O’Toole, came out of the woods and surrendered. Deputies said further investigation connected the suspect to a burglary in the 200 block of Biltmore Drive in North Barrington.
O’Toole was charged with residential burglary, two counts of burglary to a motor vehicle, theft and traffic violations related to the crash. He is being held in Lake County Jail pending a bond hearing.
