Man Shot at in Highland Park, Drives Himself to Police Department to Report Crime

A man was shot in Highland Park Friday afternoon Feb. 10, while he was in his car in the 1800 block of Deerfield Road, according to Highland Park Police.

After firing at the victim, the suspect then pointed his firearm at the driver of a delivery truck and ordered him to drive away.

The man, whose identity is being withheld by police, was not injured. He drove himself to the police department to report the incident. Police found his car was struck by bullets.

Officers rushed to the scene to search for the culprit. With a description of the offender given by a witness, Highland Park Police quickly alerted neighboring police departments about the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle occupied by two men was stopped by Deerfield Police. The suspect was arrested without incident.

Investigators found out that after firing at the initial victim, the suspect then pointed his firearm at the driver of a delivery truck and ordered him to drive away. Investigators determined that the firing was not a random act and that the victim was known by the offender whose identity also is being withheld by police with charges pending.
