Celebrate Highwood is proud to announce it has raised more than $10,000 at its inaugural Jazzed Up Dining & Classical Cocktails fundraiser held Feb. 18 benefitting Midwest Young Artists Conservatory (MYAC), the Midwest’s most comprehensive youth music school and ensemble program.
More than 175 guests had the unique opportunity to tour MYAC, which is housed in the beautifully transformed army stockade building at Fort Sheridan. Attendees alsolearned about the building’s history and explored the old prison cells from 1890.
Guests also enjoyed live jazz, classical and big band musical performances throughout the evening by MYAC students, and indulged in delicious bites from 15 local establishments, including: 210 Restaurant, Alex’s Washington Gardens, Backyard Grill, Ballaro, Barrel Crossing, Bent Fork Bakery, Curry Hut, El Burén, Ginger’s of Highwood, Jay Lovell’s, Longitud315, Maria’s Italian Bakery & Caffe, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and Taco Nano, as well as enjoy beer and cocktails from The Art of Beer, Gozio Amaretto, Pallini Limoncello, TAP Whisky and Van Gogh Vodka.
“We’re thrilled with the outstanding attendance and feedback we received at Jazzed Up Dining & Classical Cocktails,” said Eric Falberg, President of Celebrate Highwood and City of Highwood Alderman. “We look forward to this becoming an annual event as Celebrate Highwood looks to further support arts, music and culture as part of its newly formed 501(c)(3) initiative.”
“The 25 year old Midwest Young Artists Conservatory currently serves 1,000 students in 74 Chicagoland communities and is honored to have been selected as the recipient of the proceeds from this event,” said Allan Dennis, founder and president of MYAC. “All the money raised at Jazzed Up Dining & Classical Cocktails will be given to talented students admitted to our programs if they cannot afford the tuition.”
Jazzed Up Dining & Classical Cocktails was made possible by the generous sponsorship and donations from 22nd Century Media, Alison Wertheimer Homes, Aperion Care, Castle Brands, Julius Meinl, M. Brad Slavin – Farmers Insurance, NS Modern Luxury, Silk Thumb, Town of Fort Sheridan Homeowners Association and Van Gogh Vodka.
