Zion Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured a 21-year-old man on Feb. 16.
Police said the victim, who is from Zion, entered the Zion Police Station just before 4 p.m. to report that he had been shot. The man had been reportedly driven the police station by friends.
Officers observed that the man had been shot in the back and quickly proceeded with first aid while awaiting Zion Fire & Rescue.
At the scene, officers recovered nine spent casings from a handgun. According to information gathered, the victim was shot while riding in a vehicle.
The victim told police the shooting occurred near 24th Street and Galilee Avenue. Zion Police Department Dispatch Center confirmed that they had received several 911 calls reporting a shooting in this area.
The victim was transported to Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
At the scene, officers recovered nine spent casings from a handgun. According to the victim, witnesses, and evidence, the victim was shot while he was riding in a vehicle.
No arrests have been made and the incident remains under investigation.
