The fire remains under investigation

A house fire Thursday afternoon on March 16 in the southeastern part of Lake Forest resulted in an estimated $40,000 in damages, according to Lake Forest Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Gallo.
A construction crew working on the single-family house called 911 about a structure fire at the residence at about 1:56 p.m. Firefighters rushed to the scene where they witnessed smoke pouring from the second story.
The fire was located in the joist space between the first and second floors. Meanwhile, firefighters upgraded the alarm to call for backup, however the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes. No injuries were reported.
Responding to the alarm were fire departments from Lake Bluff, Knollwood, Libertyville, Highland Park, Deerfield, Wheeling and Mundelein. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
