Waukegan and Gurnee Fire Departments to Face Off in Hockey Fundraiser

Saturday at RecPlex Ice Arena in Pleasant Prairie

The Waukegan Fire Department vs. Gurnee Fire Department Charity Hockey Game to benefit Habitat for Humanity Lake County will take place Saturday, April 22 at 6:15 p.m. at the RecPlex ice arena in Pleasant Prairie.

The Waukegan Park District is sponsoring the event. Pre-game tickets are on sale until April 20 through the Waukegan Park District’s Belvidere Recreation Center, 412 S. Lewis Avenue, and at the Field House Sports, Fitness, and Aquatics Center, 800 Baldwin Avenue, in Waukegan. Pre-game tickets are $7 per person, for those three years and older.

After April 20, tickets may be purchased at the door the night of the event for $10 per person ages three years and older, children under three are free. Tickets must be presented at the door on the night of the event.

During the game, Chuck a Puck will be played for various prizes including Great America passes, Chicago Blackhawks tickets, a three month family gold membership pass to the Field House Sports, Fitness and Aquatics Center, and more.

There will be raffle prizes. Pucks may be purchased for $3 each and raffle tickets are $1 each. The concession stand will be open and food can be purchased.

Jennifer Dumas, Waukegan Park District recreation supervisor and charity game coordinator, said the charity game is a great example of the community working together to make a difference. She thanked firefighters from Waukegan and Gurnee for taking part in the event and making a great contribution to a worthy cause. Dumas also noted the RecPlex staff for supporting and helping with the charity hockey game. Finally, she thanked the many businesses which donated prizes.
