A 47-year-old Zion man was arrested Wednesday morning after he allegedly pointed a gun at a man outside of Lake County courthouse, 18 N. County Street in Waukegan.
A loaded Ruger .357 handgun was found in his vehicle, after he returned to the scene of the crime.
He was identified by Lake County Sheriff’s Office as Dirk Harris of the 1800 Hebron Avenue in Zion. The incident happened at about 9:15 a.m. as the victim was entering the courthouse for a hearing on a case involving the dissolution of marriage, according to deputies of sheriff’s Court Emergency Response Team.
Before deputies arrived, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. However, a short time later, he returned to the area and was arrested. A loaded Ruger .357 handgun was found in his vehicle.
Harris was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault. He is being held in Lake County Jail on a $50,000 bond with his next court hearing set for May 19.
